Born and raised in London to Greek-Cypriot parents, Georgia Black kicked off her professional singing career fronting Agent Provocateur's couture meets punk showband Dirty Stop Out. Working in the outfit with The Clash's Mick Jones and AP's Joe Corre, she toured the UK and Europe playing to crowds of up to 50,000 spectators.
Since then, she has developed her own personal sound, imbued with the old blues, jazz and soul influences she grew up with, as evident in her previous single Will I Be Waiting.
As of late Georgia has showcased her new material in ventures like Sofar Sounds, supporting Omar at Manchester’s Band on The Wall and has recently released her latest single The Morning’s Just Begun. A song which confronts the topic of mental health head-on, particularly focusing on Georgia’s grieving process and the challenges that brings to everyday life, in this case, getting out of bed in the morning.
In the past Georgia has been involved in innovative projects like Punchdrunk's production of The Drowned Man – an immersive theatrical show that saw attendance of everyone from Adele, Prince Harry, Madonna to Breaking Bad’s Aaron Paul. She has also collaborated with numerous top-drawer producers including Guy Chambers and Aamir Yaqub.
Through the unique projects Georgia has been involved in and as she continues to develop as an artist, there’s no doubt there'll be more to expect from this sultry soulstress....more
